It is a common requirement to be able to allow people to add comments or other content to a Google Sites website without giving them 'Collaborator' access. 

One good technique that meets most people's needs, is the embedded Form and Spreadsheet technique described by Raveen and Steegle

Using this technique, the comments appear in a spreadsheet that may be embedded in a page.

Another similar technique but with the results appearing in a gadget has been developed by Jact

Yet another technique is to use third party comment gadgets one example of which is

The form and script described on this page have been developed to enable the submission of Announcements and/or Comments via an embedded Google form. The difference between this technique and those above is that the end result is that the comments end up in the comments section at the bottom of a page or, if you are using it with an Announcements page, as announcements.

Setting up the Form

The spreadsheet form and script that drive the forms above can be copied by using the Spreadsheet template 'Google Sites Data Submission Form'.

Initiating the OnFormSubmit trigger

You have to open the "Script editor" because you need to tell Google that you want the script to be run on every form submit - the script can't do that by itself.

Click on "Tools" > "Script" > "Script editor..."

At the new window, click on "Triggers" > "Current script's triggers"

Now click the blue link: "No triggers set up. Click here to add one now."

Confirm that "aaaFormSubmission" function is selected then, at the "Events", select "From spreadsheet" - "On form submit"

Click "Save", close the "Script editor" window and you're done!
